Recommended for: Date night, A night out with friends Food: Excellent Service: Excellent Cleanliness: Excellent Wine list: Bring your own (what could be better?) Beers on tap: None Price: Dinner entrees around $20 and upYou will almost always run into a line at Sweet Basil. It is just that good but unfortunately, also that small. It is located on the corner of Great Plain Avenue in Needham center and is known well in town. The perfect place for an intimate dinner or a first date (if you’re willing to wait), Sweet Basil should be on your list to try. The food is superbly cooked and offers a good variety of pasta, seafood, and steak dishes. I’d recommend the steak served with a cheesy mushroom risotto cake. Yumm! The staff is knowledgeable and although the small quarters can be very crowded and sometimes a little loud (depending upon the patrons), the staff is always attentive. And although you will have to pay a $5 “uncorking fee”, it is well worth the savings that you will have when you bring your own favorite bottle of wine. Try Sweet Basil and go early in order to get in.
MetroWest Magazine also reviewed Sweet Basil and gave it a favorable review. Click below for the link.

Sweet Basil has the best Bolognese within 100 miles. But bring a friend…I’ve never been able to finish it!
